If you eat one meal in Bursa, have it here. This refuge for serious carnivores is famous nationwide – it is one of two Bursa restaurants claiming to be where the legendary İskender kebap (or Bursa kebap; döner kebap on fresh pide topped with tomato sauce and browned butter) was created in 1867.
The wood-panelled interior with tiled pillars and stained-glass windows creates a suitably traditional ambience in which to taste the renowned dish. There's no menu; simply order bir (one) or bir buçuk (1½) portions.
This is the main branch of a dozen eponymous restaurants around Bursa; the branch next to the Koza Han has an atmospheric vaulted setting.
