Liman Hotel

Top choice in Kuşadası

Run by the ever-hospitable Hasan 'Mr Happy' Değirmenci, the Harbour Hotel has been a mecca for independent travellers for decades. The 14 rooms (accessed by lift!) are simple but comfortable, and all have satellite TV, kettle and balcony (six are sea-facing). The real pleasure of staying here is the sociable vibe, especially on the rooftop terrace.

There's a lobby lounge and a help desk offering assistance with everything from bus tickets to local excursions. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace, as the cruise liners glint in the docks below. The terrace is also the venue for drinks and nightly barbecues from mid-April to October.
