Den Haag

Close to Paard and the Grote Markt party precinct, this is Den Haag's backpacker central. The ground-floor bar is a popular gathering spot and the mixed dorms (sleeping eight to 12, some on three-tier bunks) are made cheerful with street-art-style murals; those on the 1st floor are best. Shared bathrooms are barracks-like but clean, with plenty of hot water.

Most dorms have lockers, but no reading lights or dedicated power points; the exception is the battery-hen-like 'Dorm Deluxe', in which each bed has a curtain, power point and reading light. Private rooms are simple but comfortable. There's a communal kitchen, but no laundry. The entire hostel is hot in summer.
