Popularised by the late, great Anthony Bourdain, this low-key street stall beneath a rain tree (after which it is named) is now a staple for authentic northern Thai food. Plop down in a plastic chair, grab a Singha and feast on heaping plates of pounded-pomelo salad, Thai-style beef or pork lâhp (raw or cooked) and crab paste.
Feeling even more adventurous? There's always the roasted pork tongue or the fried frog with garlic.
