Saravana Bhavan

Bangkok

This well-reputed overseas branch of a legendary Indian eating house makes a fabulous range of southern Indian vegetarian dishes. We love the dosai (crispy rice-flour crepes), ghee pongal (savoury pudding made from stone-ground rice and lentils) and vada (deep-fried savoury doughnuts made of lentil batter). Highly recommended for vegetarians with a palate for subcontinental flavours.

Though the restaurant technically looks onto Th Silom, the entrance and staircase leading up to the 1st-floor dining area is on the building's western side, on Soi 19.
