In a modern building, the Golden Tulip has the air of a business hotel. Rooms are spacious, although the dark wood furniture is a bit gloomy, and bathrooms spotless. There's a garden, small swimming pool and rooftop restaurant (no alcohol). Balconies overlook the tin roofs of Stone Town or the shipping containers in the port nearby to the ocean beyond.
Not to be confused with the Golden Tulip Resort, about 7km out of town.
