Qinyuan Chun offers hearty, old-fashioned Shanghainese cooking. The restaurant opened in 1949, the year Chiang Kai-shek and his forces fled to Taiwan, and in some ways still seems to belong to that era. Among its meagre decorations are an antique Chinese vase, a calligraphic scroll and photos of the then-presidential family. The pastries are excellent.
Qinyuan Chun is a five-minute walk from Taichung Train Station.
