A handsome 140-year-old street house has been turned into a venue for tea and theatre, with daily performances of Taiwanese comedic dialogue. A tasty traditional meal is served during the shows, which are followed by a tour that takes you to the gallery and tearoom on the upper floors.
The shows, at 5.30pm or 7.30pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 12.30pm Monday to Friday, feature two characters in period costume drumming and relating the history and attractions of Tainan in a snappy modern stand-up of sorts. Dialogue is in Taiwanese; English subtitles are provided most of the time though the quality has room for improvement.
