Guo's Blessed Oysters

Penghu Islands

Simple but contemporary, this eat-at-the-counter outlet of a local seafood producer serves their juicy oysters in a range of formats: on the shell (NT$150 for 10, seasonal), in hand-rolls and in fresh-flavoured vermicelli soup. A picture menu makes ordering easy.

For a great snack, order the classic Pengu-style fried cuttlefish balls (花枝丸, huāzhī wán; NT$50 for two). For something spicy, try the yin-yang kaisei scallops served cold on hot rice with chilli shavings (干貝饭, gānbèi han; NT$80).
