A wonderful guesthouse where the rooms have enormous glass-panel windows and terraces strewn with hammocks and chairs. Eating breakfast on the sunny terrace with views down through the Ella Gap is what Sri Lankan dreams are made of. The owners go out of their way to help; call for free pick-up from the train station or bus stop.

Zion View's in-house restaurant (open to outside guests) serves a mighty fine rice and curry (from Rs 900). There's also a big play area for small kids and an Ayurveda centre.
