Mount Lavinia Hotel

Colombo

Part of this grand seafront hotel dates to 1806, when it was the residence of the British governor. The appropriately named ‘governor’s wing’ has colonial decor and smallish rooms; the remainder is modern and rooms have balconies. The beautifully positioned pool and terrace have sweeping ocean views. The beach is just north of the hotel. The Sunday lunch is hugely popular.
