Restaurante Mirador de la Peña

El Hierro

Dominated by a picture window gazing out over El Golfo, the graceful whitewashed restaurant at this Manrique-designed mirador is one of the island's smartest dining spots. The elegantly updated herreño menu weaves local ingredients into creative reinterpretations, such as langoustine-stuffed pineapple, fried viejas (parrot fish) and smoked-cheese-sprinkled pumpkin soup. Doubling as a cafe-bar showcasing Canarian wines, it's 1km west of Guarazoca.

Potted plants dangle from the ceiling and there's a three-course menú del día (€17).
