Dokcheon

Top choice in Mokpo

Mokpo is known for its octopus, particularly for its nakji tangtangi (chopped live octopus). This is the best place in town to try it, and if you're not quite up for the challenge of eating it still wriggling, the nakji bibimbap (octopus, rice, egg and veggies with chilli sauce) and nakji yeonpotang (octopus soup) are excellent, too.

It's an ordinary white-tiled building, with signs lit up at night. Seating is on the floor.
