Windermere

Port Elizabeth

Sure, it's located on a quiet street, only a block from the beach, but the neighbourhood is not that enthralling – think a few high-rises and anonymous flats – for a so-called 'boutique hotel'. There are plush furnishings throughout the nine spacious rooms, three of which offer sea glimpses from their balconies. Overall, it feels poor value.

Facilities include a bar, a garden plunge pool overlooked by creeper-covered walls, and African art books scattered throughout.
