Berg-en-dal Rest Camp

Kruger National Park

This modern brick-built camp, 12km from Malelane Gate, lacks the old-school bush feel but its location in the Malelane Mountains' shadow makes up for it, with views over Berg-en-dal Dam and its associated wildlife. Options include six-person family cottages (from R2100). There's a visitors' centre, evening nature movies (except Sunday) and the short Rhino Walking Trail on the camp edge.

The Tindlovu restaurant (mains R40 to R155) and cafe serve average food. A couple of birding prizes to watch out for in and around the camp: scarlet-chested sunbird and Heuglin's robin.
