Based in the old jail, the museum pays homage to Clanwilliam's icons, with sections on San rock paintings, rooibos cultivation, traditional veldskoen (leather shoes) and local poet C Louis Leipoldt. The video of the ancient riel dance, still practiced in rural communities, is worth a watch, but what really makes the museum is the passion of its curator, Harriet.
