Orange Elephant Backpackers

Sunshine Coast

Slightly ramshackle but reasonably clean, the Orange Elephant is a good budget base for Addo, offering a shuttle from Port Elizabeth (R250 return) and tours of the park (half-/full day R650/1200). Accommodation ranges from rooms in the main house to the eight-bed dorm in a rondavel, with a rustic yet salubrious ablution block. There's also a safari tent.

Breakfast costs R45 and the adjoining Thirsty Herd pub does pizzas and a house ale.
