Honiara Hotel

Honiara

Reposed over sloping grounds with lots of tree and flower coverage, this sprawling hotel has seen better days but the deluxe rooms in the more recent wings are light-filled and come with good sea views and a private terrace. The cheaper rooms feel gloomy and uninspiring in comparison. Amenities include a bar, three restaurants and, best of all, a large pool.

Caveat: there's no lift and the walk up to the highest units may leave you short of breath. It's a short taxi ride from the centre.
