Slovak Pub

Bratislava

The name suggests a by-the-numbers tourist trap, but this rustic tavern-restaurant is a guilty pleasure among locals, too. Grab a draught beer, or perhaps a wooden paddle of slivovica (plum brandy), and you'll likely stay longer than planned. Before you develop beer goggles, you might learn something from the knightly regalia and portraits of Slovak heroes on show.

Slovak Pub also serves every imaginable national dish, from bryndzové halušky (sheep's cheese-flavoured gnocchi) to bean soups, all of it homemade from organic ingredients (mains €3.50 to €16).
