Regional Serbia's best hostel gets a thumbs-up for being environmentally conscious, with furniture made of recycled material, solar-energy panels, waste recycling and free bike storage. Cleverly repurposed equipment from Yugoslav army barracks (like ammunition cases for room storage) is a cool touch. There's a large common area and a kitchen, and a choice of dorms or doubles with shared bathroom.
This is an excellent base for exploring western Serbia, as the town of Užice is on the Belgrade–Bar railway line while Zlatibor mountain is only 24km away. The hostel's enthusiastic (certified) guides offer a range of adventures and day tours in Tara National Park, Zlatibor, Uvac canyon and other destinations.
