Orkneylodge

Orkney

Though it has its quirks, this old seaplane base still makes for a comfortable spot if you've got a car. The rooms are renovated, spacious and commodious, and there are decent options for families (£110), with a double and bunk bed. It also has a conservatory lounge and bar. It's right beside the Houton ferry terminal.

A change in ownership around the time of research might mean that the restaurant reopens here.
