Urban legend has it that Saudi royals used to ditch their pricey handbags here, but in reality it’s unlikely you’ll find any couture. The city’s largest second-hand market has gently used evening gowns, abayas (robe-like dresses worn by women), ephemera and regional antiques and collectables.
It sits at the centre of an outdoor shopping plaza, so to reach it shoppers must walk through a gauntlet of upholstery and furniture shops. The market is mostly covered, but during the warmer months it's best to visit in the early morning or evening. Be prepared to bargain.
