Striking the right balance between European standards and local ambience, the laid-back Omali is where locals, expats and foreign visitors all meet. Located between the city and the airport, it provides convenient access to either one. Rooms are mildly worn but spacious, and arranged around a large pool set in palms.
A nice beach, Praia Lagarto, lies across the street. The highlight is the attractive terrace restaurant (mains €12–20) and friendly bar, one of the best in the city, which serves a Western menu, including excellent pizza – it's a good place to chill out. The service is glacial, but English is spoken. Last-minute deals sometimes lessen inflated room rates, but reserve ahead September to March.
