Tauono’s is a delight, a tiny garden cafe run by one-time Canadian-Austrian Sonja and her occasional team of travellers and WWOOFers (Willing Workers on Organic Farms). Renowned for its coconut cake, fruit smoothies, and afternoon teas, Tauono’s also offers home-cooked cuisine served alfresco for lunch. The food is prepared according to what’s been freshly picked from the on-site organic garden.
Stop by for homemade cake and fresh fruit and veg from Sonja’s market shop, and ask about joining a plantation tour (per person NZ$35). Fresh and frozen meals are also available to take away. Sonja's tasty breadfruit lasagne is deservedly world famous in Aitutaki.
