In a white, boxy building near the Parque do Fontelo, a 10-minute walk east of the centre, Viseu’s Hostelling International-affiliated hostel has friendly, helpful staff and functional same-sex dorms, as well as several private rooms. Lunch (€7) and dinner (€8) are available on request or you can rustle something up in the kitchen.
