With a bird's-eye view over Patéo inside the ambitious Bairro de Avillez, this 1st-floor Peruvian gem is chef José Avillez' first collaboration with a foreign colleague, chef Diego Muñoz of Lima's Astrid & Gastón fame, and it's a match made in cielo (or is it céu?). Never mind! Whatever the case, it's about the authentic Peruvian flavours.
The small-plates menu, divided into six worlds (raw, fried, streets, wok etc), is a culinary force to be reckoned with, covering everything from traditional and Asian-influenced ceviches to Peru's chifa (Chinese-influenced Peruvan) culture and the Andean highlands (try them all on the six-course tasting menu for two; €70). Wash it all down with a tipple from the Pisco Bar.
