Souk El Tayeb

Beirut

Few things embody the Lebanese culture like its food does. To sample homemade food, visit the weekly open-air market Souk El Tayeb ('the good market'), where small-scale farmers sell products prepared according to traditional recipes. You can buy labneh cheese or eat a saj (flatbread cooked on a metal dome) sandwich on the go.

This outdoor Saturday market in the Beirut Souks is particularly recommended, but there are also other locations and days: noon to 6pm Wednesday at the Gefinor Centre, Clemenceau, and 11am to 6pm Thursdays at the Village Dbayeh.
