The fourth restaurant in Budapest to be awarded a Michelin star and the second Costes one, Costes Downtown calls itself a 'fine-dining bistro’. Watch the two chefs at work in the open kitchen and, while nibbling on squid-ink chips, order such delectables as cured salmon trout with edamame beans and mangalica saddle and cheek with capers.
With a brick vaulted ceiling and wine on display in glass-fronted cabinets throughout, the feeling here is one of a cellar. But the floor-to-ceiling windows and 'living wall' dispel any feeling of being submerged. Weekday business lunches are 7900Ft for three courses. Tasting dinner menus of four/five/six courses are 24,000/28,000/34,000Ft, or 37,000/44,000/54,000Ft with paired wines.
