Ürgüp's hippest hotel. Nil Tuncer, with help from acclaimed interior decorator Oytun Berktan, has stamped the nine rooms with a minimalist design as much at home in New York as within the swirling natural coloured caves. Dramatic black accenting, repurposed gözleme-pans as statement wall art, hanging lamps salvaged from a Russian tanker – Sota's swaggering style shakes up the Cappadocia scene.
This place has serious substance too, with exceptional attention paid to all the little details. Guests can borrow iPads and stacks of books to chill out on the sun-lounger-scattered terraces, there's a well-stocked bar, and breakfast includes espresso and artisan breads. Even better, this little hotel has got sustainability credentials with grey-water reuse in place and eco-pellets (rather than coal) being used for the central heating.
