Cho Ga Jib

Top choice in Jeonju

Hard to find, but worth the effort, this utterly charming hanok (traditional wooden home) guesthouse is surrounded by a delightful garden. Cosy rooms have modern – though tiny – bathrooms. The friendly woman who runs it (and grew up in the house) speaks some English. During the day, it also serves as a teahouse (until 5pm).

It's the only remaining hanok building in Jeonju's old city with a thatched-roof signifying a commoner residence. Tile-roofed hanok were for the upper class.
