Parador de El Hierro

Resting right on the edge of a pebbly cliff-flanked beach, a world away from everything, the island’s top hotel delights with its elegant green- or blue-clad rooms starring hardwood floors, charming yet up-to-date design and, for most, private balconies (ask for views of the electric-blue ocean). The pool overlooks crashing waves, and there are gardens, a cafe and an excellent restaurant.
