Røros Hotell

Central Norway

Vast and perenially packed with coach-tour parties, this enormous hotel at the top of town is eminently practical, especially for families, but it's not the option we'd choose unless we really had to. Styled as a mountain hotel, rooms are passable, but it's the facilities most come for: sauna, pool, restaurant and so on.

Be aware that during very busy periods they put people in their overflow accommodation over the road – rooms here are little more than sheds (and they don't voluntarily reduce the rates) – avoid these if at all possible.
