Ayaz-Qala Yurt Camp

Uzbekistan

Right next to Ayaz-Qala, this somewhat charmless yurt camp has eight concrete-based yurts lined up in a row, each big enough to hold five to eight people. Things can get very hot in summer. Tour groups often book out Ayaz-Qala, especially for lunch. At other times you’re practically at one with the desert. Bring a torch. Bookings are essential.

Given some warning, the Ayaz-Qala yurt camp can arrange camels for a short ride (US$5 to US$10 per hour) into the fringes of the surrounding semi-desert.
