Jasper's 157-bed HI hostel, opened two blocks from downtown in 2019 to replace the aging Whistlers Mountain facility, is a gem. The sprawling lower level houses a bevy of bright, welcoming common spaces – a guest kitchen and dining area complete with cozy booth seating, pool table, cafe, laundry facilities, free parking with EV charging stations, and more.
Upstairs, pairs of four-bed dorms share their own shower, toilet and sink area, while family rooms, private quads and wheelchair-accessible units are also available. There's excellent wi-fi throughout, along with individual reading lights and charging stations above each bed. A potential downside for light sleepers are the train tracks right outside the back windows – though romantics may appreciate the occasional lonesome locomotive whistle and the families of elk that sometimes bed down in the field across the street.
