Capped by a distinctive clock tower, this historic hotel (1926) is strong on both character and style. The neoclassical entrance leads to a marble lobby with attractive ceiling artwork. However it's a drop in standard from other luxury hotels; the cheaper rooms at the back are dated and some smell like stale cigarettes. Those overlooking People’s Park have nicer furniture and more space.
It caters mainly to local tourists, so English isn't a strong point here. Online discounts are available.
