Nuts Huts

Top choice in Bohol

This near-legendary place polarises opinion. Ensconced in tropical forest on the Loboc River, it's perfect for those eager to experience and explore the jungle and who don't mind roughing it a bit – the huts are very rustic. But if you hate creepy-crawlies and dislike exercise (it's a stiff walk up to the entrance), this isn't the place for you. Book ahead.

Meals are served in the wonderful dining-room and lounge area, where a wall of jungle on the opposite bank of the river completely fills the view. Guided or DIY treks head to nearby caves and Rajah Sikatuna National Park. It also has kayaks for rent and a wood-heated herbal sauna. Or simply lounge in the hammocks and take it easy.

The turnoff for Nuts Huts is about 3km north of Loboc (P50 by habal-habal). From there, it's a steep 15-minute walk or motorbike ride along a rutted dirt road. It's also possible to arrive here by boat from Loboc; check the website for exact details.
