Costa del Sol

Trujillo

This chain hotel has a large resort compound about a 10-minute taxi ride from the city center. The resort has a grand circular pool, spa with Jacuzzi, treatment rooms and steam baths, and expansive grounds patrolled by a troupe of alpacas (that must hate the heat). Rooms are classy and elegant. The downside? It's in the middle of freaking nowhere.

You won't feel like you are in Trujillo at all, but it offers facilities unmatched elsewhere in town. It's usually possible to get rooms for less than half the published rates.
