1900 Backpackers

Lima

A downtown hot spot, this old mansion designed by Gustavo Eiffel is revamped with modern design touches, though it maintains the marble floors and other turn-of-the-century flourishes. For a hostel it’s downright gorgeous. Rooms are smart and simple, with bunks side by side. There’s a tiny kitchen and cool common spaces, such as a pool room with a bar and a red chandelier.

Though the location is full of with traffic-exhaust fumes during the day, there’s the plus of having a premier museum right across the street.
