Bonanza Ecological Reserve

Amazon Basin

Past Itahuanía toward the community of Bonanza, this family-run 40-person capacity lodge has cabins abutting a large clearing that also has a large restaurant area with sofas and a two-floor hammock-strung chill-out zone; bathrooms are shared and there’s solar-paneled electricity throughout. From here trails lead off into dense jungle that backs onto Manu's zona natural.

The highlight here is the tree house peeping out on a clay lick that tapirs visit, and two 15m observation towers for improved animal viewing. There are also canoes available for nearby river trips. The lodge is around three hours from Atalaya by boat, or 14 hours' journey from Cuzco.
