Only half the workshops in this modern arcade are open, but there’s a few mat-weaving establishments (shop nine) and an apothecary (shop 10), where you can pick up some bukhorr hassad (a mixture of natural ingredients to ward off the evil eye). Try sage for sore throats, frankincense for constipation and myrrh for joint pains.
Shop six belongs to ex-soldier Abdullah (telephone 99312863 if closed) and specialises in swords and khanjar (Omani traditional daggers), while Hussein Ali specialises in bric-a-brac from Oman's recent past (in the corner shop). The opening to the souq is at a bend in Sohar Rd by Al Jadeeda Stores.
