The closest thing Bluefields has to a hostel, the Yellow House is a brightly painted collection of buildings set in some fairly wild gardens by the waterfront in the barrio of Santa Rosa, a short cab ride from downtown. The Swiss owner welcomes guests warmly and offers fishing trips, community visits to settlements along the coast and overnight trips to the Pearl Keys.
