Spinning north of Manawatu Gorge is Te Āpiti Wind Farm. The 55 turbines create enough power for around 39,000 New Zealand homes each year. It's on private land just off Saddle Rd, but through the gate there is a public viewing platform with mesmerising views – ask the Palmerston North i-SITE for directions. It's more accessible than Tararua Wind Farm.
