Operated as a Kiwi diner serving steak and seafood for many decades, the National Cafe was reopened in 2017 by descendants of the original Greek owners. A few dishes from its heritage heyday linger, but now the emphasis is firmly on authentic flavours. Settle into the retro 1960s decor and partner meze and chargrilled octopus with ouzo, wine and retsina.
Be sure to order the kessaria pies with gooey cheese and pine nuts.
