Giraffe

Viaduct Harbour & Wynyard Quarter

Giraffe combines a stylish but casual harbourside dining room with an intensely local and seasonal menu. The restaurant was named by owner Simon Gault's then 3½-year-old daughter, and the menu is packed with sophisticated and superior versions of comfort food such as lamb shanks, fish pie and roast chicken. There's also a pricey, but very impressive, selection of steaks.

Local seafood takes a starring role with NZ oysters, mussels and fish often worked into the various plates designed for sharing.
