Dar Al Hossoun

Top choice in Taroudant

This hotel is on a huge plot of land around 5km west of Taroudant, but its gardens are designed so that every space feels intimate, including two pools, plenty of serene common areas and seemingly infinite succulents. Rooms are tastefully appointed, as are common areas. Peacocks and 36 cats roam the grounds, resulting in amusing animal kingdom hijinks. Everything is utterly lush.

The pools are available to nonguests (Dh60). Taxi out for the afternoon and stay for drinks and dinner (prix-fixe Dh220) under the soaring cacti. Or, if self-driving, take P1708 5km west of town to the village of Al Nowayle. From here, follow signs leading about two kilometres north of the village.
