Fort Bou-Jerif Resort

Southern Morocco & Western Sahara

Run by French expat Pierre, this wonderful oasis of civilisation in the desert is about 40km northwest of Goulimime (the last 9km is a rough dirt track). Built near a ruined French Foreign Legion fort, this compound has a range of sleeping options, from rooms in a motel and a hotel to nomad tents and campsites.

There is an excellent restaurant (menu Dh200), where you can try a camel tajine. It also offers 4WD trips to Plage Blanche, a little-visited and unspoiled stretch of beach 40km west of Bou-Jerif.
