Fairfield Guesthouse

Top choice in Mongolia

Attached to the excellent cafe-restaurant of the same name, this nine-room guesthouse, is run by an Australian guy called Murray, his young family, and their team of friendly local staff, It's a hugely popular choice and one of the only hotels in the countryside where you need a reservation in summer. Rooms are stylish, clean and comfy, while shared showers are always hot.

During summer there's a ger option, too. Staff can also arrange horse-trekking trips (guides T55,000 per day, horses T27,000 per day), and there's a fleet of good-quality Trek mountain bikes for rent (T10,000/30,000 per hour/day). They also hire out camping and cooking equipment, and fishing gear (T10,000 per day) and guides (T80,000). Laundry costs T8000, and the free wi-fi extends into some of the rooms. They can arrange bus tickets to get here from Ulaanbaatar and back, and arrange homestays with nomads and tours around Mongolia.
