Place this site anywhere else in the world and it would be the centrepiece of an archaeological museum. In Mongolia, it is a largely forgotten rock – albeit a rock carved with some 20 different petroglyphs portraying ancient wildlife and mysterious symbols. The adjacent stone formations, which crust a ridge line that looks out over the great Khentii steppe, are also studded with ancient carvings.
