Café La Yerbabuena

Western Central Highlands

While hiking up to as close as you are going to get to the summit of Volcán de Fuego, you might stop at 1500m at this rustic cafe in a working coffee plantation for a cup of homegrown and ground joe. It's in the original hamlet of La Yerbabuena, which disappeared under the lava flow of the 2005 eruption. Check it out on Facebook.

Residents were moved away in good time and now live in La Yerbabuena II some 7km further down the slope.
