On a tranquil patch of sand north of Bahía de los Ángeles, this former turtle research center now serves as an 'ecotourist campground' and is beautifully run by the family of the biologist who built it. Basic beach palapas (huts) offer cots and shared bathrooms, while a few spacious stone houses set back from the sea contain kitchens and bathrooms.
The scenery is deeply relaxing, with awe-inspiring sunrises over the sapphire, island-dotted bay. A paddle in a (complimentary) kayak affords encounters with a variety of birdlife and the occasional whale shark.
Recycling, trash separation and water conservation are actively encouraged.
